What type of information do we collect?
The Save Salt Island (SSI) community group receives, collects and stores any information you enter on our website or provide us in any other way. Your information is used by SSI to keep you, our supporter, informed of our efforts to ensure that Salt Island is protected from development and remains in its natural state. Your information may be used by SSI to communicate with you in the form of a newsletter, email updates of events happening in relation to saving Salt Island, and notification of fundraising campaigns. SSI does not share information collected through its website to any third party.
How do we collect information?
When you join or make a donation to SSI through our website, as part of the process, we collect personal information you give us such as your name, address, phone number and email address. Your personal information will be used for the specific reasons stated above only.
How is you information stored, used, shared and disclosed?
The SSI website is hosted on the Wix.com platform (https://www.wix.com/). Wix.com provides us with the online platform that allows us to collect your information when you join our email list. Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.
Donations to SSI are made through Friends of Good Harbor, Inc, (FOGH) who hold an account with the GiveButter (https://givebutter.com/) online fundraising platform. On July 7, 2021 the board of directors of FOGH extended support for financial management of donor contributions, accounting, and contractual engagements when needed and consistent with statutory requirements and established practices as a chartered non-profit organization. Information stored on GiveButter for use by SSI and FOGH is limited to: name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and the amount of the donation.

GiveButter uses Stripe Connect for the online transfer of funds. Neither SSI nor FOGH sees or collects the credit card account information of its donors. Similarly, for the protection of SSI, FOGH, and its donors Givebutter never sees or collects banking or credit card information or activity conducted on its platform.
